Make up a small square/rectangular box and put the rifle in it in two pieces. Bubble wrap both. It makes an inconspicious package. Richard

What carrier are you going to use? Richards way is good but can get smashed. The best way is to ship it in a hard gun case but a Pelican case is big bucks. My favored way is a plastic case like a special edition Gun Guard (fairly cheap $30). Make sure your information is on the case and inside. Use nylon strip ties seal it and then I sometimes put cardboard around the case. If you ship by the USPO they may ask to be shown the gun is unloaded also FedEx and UPS also. I've shipped enough they know me so they do not ask. You do not have to ship by next day air. Make sure you insure it, remember the commercial about baggage handlers being gorillas, freight handlers are worse. Also ship "signature required" so they just do not leave on the door step.

I ship as Rossman does with the addition of duct tape in 3 places as I have had guns show up with the zip ties busted. In addition to this I still put it in a box.

Buckrub sent me his gun in a round long hard cardboard tube. Excellent protection. What ever way you ship, don't use a gun case unless you enclose it in a cardboard box as Tar mentioned. A rectangular box does not necessarily relate to a rifle. And somehow, I get the impression that workers that do the loading and unloading at terminals, are not of the same quality as the actual guys who drive the brown truck. Don't make it LOOK like a gun.
