Has anyone tried to lighten their Accutrigger?
There have been 1 1/2 pound springs available in the past, but they do not appear to be available at the current time.
I have seen that some have cut off a coil or two, but have also heard stories with that method where the sear did not engage properly.
I am thinking of making a spring, but wonder if anyone has had any luck with other ways.
1 1/2 pounds seems light for a hunting trigger, but with the safety of the Accutrigger I don't see the risk.

What about using Slim-Fast or Jenny Craig to "lighten" up the trigger? Just a thought........ Bret

That was incredibly helpful....somehow I never would have thought of it on my own edge.

I am by no means experienced with the AT but in that I have tried to adjust mine below 3# I would be interested in what others have to say... I was finally able to get it to 2.5# but that was with a lot of grunting. That little screw can be hard to turn...

Thanks, I'll have to look at the springs design a little closer.

I would have to look at it again (I hope I am remembering correctly) but I did see that spring that is attached to the adjustment was screwing out the other side a little...

edge, here is how i lightened mine works like a charm and it can still be adjusted like normal , it will just go lower on the pull weight if wanted or can be set back to a heavier pull easily enough this allows the spring to be turned further away from the pressure point which basically reduces the spring seat pressure without changing the spring

8-)I have adjusted Accu-triggers to lower than adjustable pull levels at times.
The spring notch cut away as shown by some pictures here is ok but it adds little adjustment to the trigger.
The key to doing it right is the angle at the trigger detent and the bolt release. This point has a flat area that leads into a sloping release point. Polishing the release point is the best option for lighening the trigger pull. It is also the most critical. If you stone too much the trigger will have an inconsistent pull.

Gun Docc, very neat idea As a followup, someone emailed me that they had a spare from a tactical action for sale. When it arrives I will be one happy camper Thanks for the replies. edge.
