Which do you prefer to use? I favor round bottom groove rifling...why? They load "slicker" and don't seem to foul out as fast as the square rifling does. I have heard that the square bottom rifling was somewhat more accurate but you can't prove that one by me. ;D

Douglas, I have been building Flinters for about 20 years now, and my specialty is rifles of the pre-revolutionary period...It is only natural to use tapered & flared or straight tapered barrels to be historically correct. I have shot both round and square, and with the proper patch and ball combination, the both shoot great. It seems to me that the round grooves do better with less ball diameter & more patch material to fill up the grooves better...
