I haven't read anything on this so I just though I'd see if anyone else has tried it. I bought a used TC hawken a few years back and after shooting it a few times I realized the old .50cal barrel was pretty well shot out. A friend had a green mt. dropin in .54cal that I got for a good price so it is now on my stock. Any way I took my old .50 and bored it out to a 20 gage shot gun this actually works really well for trap and skeet, I haven,t had a chanch to take it hunting yet. Let me know if anyone has any ideas Thanks...

I have a 24ga (.58) flintlock I hunt with. For flying birds I usually use 3/4oz of #7.5 or #6 shot over 80gr 3F. 1/8" nitro OP card, 3/16 lubed fiber cushion and shot is capped off with a .025" card. For turkey, I use a 1.25oz load of Cu or Ni plated #5 shot buffered with my own special all natural buffing agent over 95gr of 2F. This one averages 11 known fatal hits in the head & neck of a turkey at 25 yds and 8 at 30 yds.

Thanks for the info Flinter. I haven't tried to load mine quite that hot yet. I'm loading with equal measures from a 7/8 oz shot cup for clay birds useing 1/16 gasket material for op card, some 1/2 in felt a friend gave me for cushion lubed with murphys oil soap and note card material for over the shot all cut with a 5/8 hole punch. My bore job is actually closer to 24ga than 20ga as it mics out at .596
