As a matter of fact I was in WS this morning and looking around. Place is about 1/2 empty as their move continues. I have looked at the A bolt but there's a $200 + difference in price. Still like the T3 for it's light weight. I'll keep the powder suggestions in mind along with the suggestions on the recoil pads. I did find something though that I was looking for. Last time I looked couldn't find it but there is was today. Last set of RCBS small base dies for my 30-06 auto loader. Not sure how long I'll have this though. Just received my copy of the Outdoor Edge and article about the conservative government and their plans for the gun registry. Seem they're taking a close look a banning all auto loaders. Also said something about they're looking a compensating owners that will forfeit their guns . I think me and other owners will end up on the short end of that stick. Wonder if it'll also apply to rim fire RAF the Abolt Composite Stalker should be 719.00, you must have looked at the Stainless Steel Stalker to get a price difference of 200 plus!! The weight of the composite Stalker is 6lbs 6 oz which equates to 3 oz. heavier than the Tikka T3 Lite.

Not suprised being WS, they are brutal when it comes to anything to do with service. I just checked the website, indicates they have the Composite Stalker Abolt chambered in 300wsm with no boss for $719.95. As you know if Saskatoon doesn't have one in stalk they will bring it for you to at least hold. Like said not trying to sway you in any way just give you a good cross reference. Any way best of luck to you.
RAF I haven't looked through the new Edge but are you saying they are looking at including semi-auto into the automatic class? That would really cause outrage. Think of all the benelli owners here and coming to hunt waterfowl..urg

I'll have to read it again, without the anger, to make sure I got it right but I'm certain that's what it said. Harpers idea after some consiltation the the PM from Australia.

Thompson Center is coming out with a new centerfire, bolt action rifle. I saw a review in Guns and Ammo recently. I have always liked there line of products. It may be a consideration if you wanted something a bit different. The accuracy shown was quite good.

RAF the trigger on the a-bolt will be nothing like the tikka ( the tikka is nicer ). You can get a spring kit for the a-bolt that will make it almost as nice as the tikka It will cost ya $25 for the spring kit tho. Accuracy will be as good as, if not better than a-bolts with all of them that I have owned ( both models ). -bubba

Savage 16FSS 7 WSM, I picked one up last year and its accuracy out of the box is amazing.
Not a whole lot of factory offerings, but enough.
If you handload then 140 accubond is awesome on deer.
160 accubond for bigger game and hard to beat for long range (500+) hunting.
160 TSX or Partition for biggest. The 7 family will cover the spectrum very well.
All 4 of these bullets have shot sub moa in both factory loaded and hand loaded ammo. That surprised me the most.
And I think Federal may bring a 140 TSX out, they have just listed it as new for the 7 Rem Mag so will probably make it for 7 WSM too.

All the suggestions I'm getting are just great. When I finally buy this rifle it'll take a long time to sift through everything suggested and put it into pratice. Thanks.

Having a Savage centerfire is nice since a lot of the parts are the same. I have a 112 that I bought before my 10ML and it's a tack driver. When I got my 10ML I already had mounts that I purchased for my 112 that went right on. I keep waiting on a deal for a 10FP or a 12LPV to turn up.

Savage Shooter, Is the synth. stock on the savage 16fss better than the MLII? Also how does the 140 accubond perform on deer compared to the nos140BT and the horn.139sst? Larry

Just had a little hic up in my plans to buy this new rifles. To start with I just filed my 2006 income tax return and am expecting a healthy refund which will cover the cost of the rifle and a new scope. However, my Jiffy Ice auger is about 15 years old and getting a little tired. Tried to get some work done on it but nothing seems to be working, so, I went out and bought a brand new one but now I'll have to do some figuring how to cover the cost of the rifle. Just another delema .
