Nice photos. I guess wallaby's are considered nuisance animals? Or is there a particular hunting season on them?

Thanks. All animals here are considered nuisance! The only seasons are on fowl. We can hunt deer, goats, pigs, rabbits, hares, wallabies, tahr, chamois etc. all year and there are no limits on bags etc. All our game animals are introduced and until only a few years back rabbits used to ravage the country side. It was not worthy of note to shoot 500 spotlighting at night. Same for deer. In the 20's through the 50's the government employed cullers to shoot as many deer as they could. The deer were so plentiful that most of the shooters in the latter years used .222's only. That's how good they were. Still lots of game to be had here too.

Aren't they grabbing most center-fire guns there like we hear they are doing in Australia and The British Isles and if you are allowed to have a gun or two, must they only be kept under lock and key at a gun club?

Hell no. I can own as many rifles as I want on my A cat. licence which is good for 10 years. They are all locked up in a Coca-Cola vending machine in my garage. Pistols are very restricted however but that's no real drama. The Australian Govt. has gone a bit silly however the shooters did not help themselves. For example the Au. pistol assc. when thought they were under threat, went the govt. and said they would be happy to loose action style handguns (eg 1911's) as they didn't think they were Olympic orientated. The govt. said 'thanks' and then took ALL the pistols. You make your bed, you sleep in it ah?

AB - Hi. A Tahr is a very tough goat like animal ex the Himalayas. They are really hard living and can just about run vertically up and down the mountains. Try this site. www.kiwisafaris.co.nz/Tahr.html

JeffinNZ, first off a beautiful rifle. Now do you all eat all of the game you take? Was wondering what a wallaby would taste like. Was thinking the back legs would be a wee bit tough.

JACKJR60: Pretty much however as the wallabies a pests we tend to shoot a lot for pest control much in the same way as you guys shoot gophers etc. Thanks for the nice words re the flinter. Birddog6 tutored me through it.

Well I don't know anyone that eats gopher so that answers my question bout the wallabies. Gotta say once more that sure is a purty rifle. Jack
