my primary bow is a Mathews MQ1, 60/70#, 29" draw with Mathews 6 arrow quiver, Tiger Tuff custom rest and Savage Quick Click Ranger , adj 20-70 yds with 2 pin pendelum sight I shoot Carbon Express 3D Select arrows topped with 100gr Thunderheads. This bow is very quiet shooting, fast, and very accurate. Lastly, I use a Scotts Little Mongoose release with the velcro strap. If I do my part there will definitely be backstaps to cook tonight! Reading all this makes me think I might want to update. I bought a PSE Vulcan in 1983 and used it until 1991. I got busy with other things for awhile and this year decided to get back into bowhunting. Since I didn't have the budget, I dusted off the old PSE. I had stumbled across a CrackShot release somewhere and therefore switched to a mechanical release when last time I hunted it was finger tabs. I am shooting 27 inch Easton aluminum GameGetter II 2117's tipped with Bear Razorheads. The bow is set to 65 pounds. I have a single sight pin set at 40 yards and the old fashion corkscrew wire arrow rest. It still works, see the 14 year hiatus post.
Probably the most ironic thing is that I have such "archaic" archery equipment but shoot a Savage ML10II during muzzleloader. It wasn't that long ago that I upgraded my muzzleloader (.50 cal Hastings barrel for my Remingtion 870), so I guess the bow is up for replacement next. ;D

Reading all this makes me think I might want to update. Well, I did it. I bought a Matthews Legacy, with Easton Axis 400 Carbon arrows, and a TRU Ball Stinger release. I put a Sims S-coil stabilizer on it to hold the wrist sling. It has a trophy taker shakey hunter drop away rest on it. Only a 20 year jump in technology. ;D

I was shooting a 1996 Jennings SpeedStarXLR single cam until I bought a 2005 Ben Pearson Spoiler single cam from Reloader. It will now be my main bow and boy does it ever shoot nice with no bow noise. I had my daughter stand to the side and listen and all she could hear were the arrows cutting the air and the thump when arrows hit target.

My first bow was a Darton Trailblazer and I'm sorry I ever sold it. I got caught up in "new technology" and bought a Diamond Rapture which is a nice bow but I didn't like it as much as the Darton. I gave it to my son. Now I have a PSE X-Force which is one of the fastest bows you can buy. It's sooo fast I missed three nice bucks with it this last season! I guess the lesson is shoot your bow alot no matter what it is and stick with that one bow for hunting and DON"T switch up at the last minute. The PSE is really a nice bow but the draw module is too long for me and the pro shop was out of them at the start of season so I tried to compensate. Bad idea.
