I am currently working on an attempt at a (hopefully) complete data base of loads for both .45 and .50 caliber smokeless rifles with single powders and duplex loads and including saboted and sabotless loads for all of the above. This is a project that is currently under way and it will be up to Edge whether or not we post this information here on the web or whether it might need to be provided outside the forum to members who wish to aquire the data that we build. I have already talked to Edge about the project as well as CraigF who is currently putting all of the data into a useable format (Excel or PDF). I couldn't pursue this endeavor without the help of both of these gentlemen and would like the input of several other members. I still intend to contact these other members (friends) whom i hope will contribute to the data base as well as help edit load data that i have already compiled. Thanks to everyone for your assistance and patience while we work on this project. KerryB

KerryB I would think this would be a great idea! With all the different loads and combinations this is quite a job. Glad to see you have the .45 included!

KerryB, you definitely want it in a spreadsheet or an access database. This will allow for exporting to a statistics package for serious analysis. I'll email you one I've started for some ideas when I get a chance and I'd be happy to help you with the design. The real key here is to make sure that you include all the variables that you will need to get some real info out of it.

Thanks guys for all the offers of help! I appreciate any assistance that any of you are willing to give. I am especially grateful to Craig for accepting the job of putting all of this into a spreadsheet (Excel), although we are also looking at a PDF version that i really like the looks of. You guys please feel free to PM me or email any data that you want included in the data base. I will check it against the data we already have for duplication, and if it is new, we will include it. We really need to know specifics if possible including velocity and who to attribute the original data to, although originator information won't be included in the version for public release. Will keep everyone posted on progress..............

Work is progressing nicely on the load database. The .50 saboted load database is pretty well complete and the .50 sabotless, .45 saboted and .45 sabotless are soon to come, not to mention all of the duplex loads for each. We currently have over 120 loads listed for the .50 saboted single powder loads alone! This gives you an idea of why it is taking some time to sort and put this data into a spreadsheet. CraigF is doing an excellent job of putting this into a useable format (excel and PDF). We are still brainstorming on the best method of getting this information out to the membership............might be difficult to post a spreadsheet here. We are currently discussing posting a PDF image in a simple post that can be a sticky or moved to the "Tips & Hints" section. We still need to have the members who contributed loads to look over the data for errors or additions and i will be sending out their copies soon. We will keep everyone posted and get this up and running as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience! KerryB
