To RB and others: I have a RB modified breechplug that I bought used. It may have been used with blackpowder as on the unthreaded portion and the face there is pitting, like it was not cleaned quickly with blackpowder. The question, will this cause any trouble or blowback as doesn't the seal and strength occur in the threaded part of the breechplug? There is no pitting there. Thanks

I have seen several plugs that looked like that.I still have one and know for a fact it had nothing but smokeless powder ran through it.I will try and find a picture of it.I still use it and it is not showing any signs of wear or degrading. The plugs I speak of were not RB plugs, but from what you are describing the condition is the same.I believe it to be a metallurgic issue myself.
