The problem is nobody is there to monitor Doug's account, so we have no idea what may be happening behind the scenes. Does somebody need to reply to a ProBoards message, we don't know! Right now we get hit with upgrades and nobody is warned that we will be shut down for "X" amount of time, all we know is we can't log on! Will there be a time when Doug needs to reply to some message and doesn't? We just don't know. Believe me I fought this for a long time, but ProBoards will not relent. They will not elevate others to moderators without Doug's OK. There were times when someone asked a question and if no one answered within the hour that I tried to help. Now, I have many, many posts that I have not even read! Right now there is only Jeremy, mike3132, and myself as moderators. There are others that are on and I bet willing to give a hand to others and rarely move some posts around too This Board has pretty much devolved to a Savage Board and a few extra posts. Quite honestly I read the Savage Board, sometimes the Back Porch, and rarely anything else. At one time I scanned for spam every day, but have not done it for months! What is on those other boards could be anything, but I for one don't have the time to check everything. I know that Jeremy and Mike have real lives too, and probably don't check everything either. IMO, we probably want to consolidate message boards unless there are others that feel strongly otherwise. For instance, we have 5 boards under HUNTING, but there are only about 600 posts since 2004!!! I bet most folks have given up on checking most....make it one hunting board and perhaps we can get some interest?? I won't make decisions for the group, but IMO, things need to change. I would like to hear opinions....well some of them : edge.

Just so nobody gets the wrong idea, Jeremy and Mike have the password to the new board.
Not having multiple folks in charge of the site will not happen again!

I encourage those who are working to keep the board alive and going. I know it is a hassle and a bother but it is doing a great service. Many seek and get help with their equipment problems here. It is an outlet for sharing successes, failures and it is entertaining. I have often wondered how it is financed without membership fees or advertisement. I have got my questions answered and hopefully have provided some help to others. I cannot see how I could be of help with the new board because I can barely reboot a computer. But I would surely feel a great loss should this board cease to exist. Ben

This sounds like a good direction for the board to go. We definitely needed someone with a password at the helm. Hopefully we can have more options for posting things like PDF's or Excel spreadsheets (Load Data). It is sad to think about all of the past threads being locked, but they will still be viewable, so the history and information is not lost. Too bad proboards can't confirm that no one has been in charge here and pass the torch for us, but that is the hand we have been dealt, and we must do what is necessary to protect our future here. I look forward to the future here with more features and knowing someone is watching out for the board! Thanks for doing this for us! KerryB

Edge, Mike and Jeremy,
I am quite aware of the effort required to maintain an active board and it appears the plans are going in a very appropriate direction, given the circumstances. This will be a great boost for all of us to pare down the number of "boards" to those that actually have interest so those can be managed without working one or two guys to death.
Really appreciate all your work as this board is a real boost to those of us that have an interest in Savage or Smokeless muzzleloading. It is a shame that Doug's account could not be transferred to those who have a current interest and availability, but I have great faith that the end result will be big improvement.
Thanks again guys, Chuck

I pleaded with Pro Boards several different times to promote one of use so we could make necessary changes to the board and they told me to start a new one. We've be trying to contact Doug for almost 2 years now with no success. This will be the third board change since this board was started. If you click on the archives link at the very top of the page it takes you back to the first board archives. Wonder how many of you knew that? LOL.
Some of you new members need to read the tips and hints section and archives as there is a lot of valuable information in there.
As edge said there will be very little difference in the new board other than a few topic boards that will be deleted and combined.
I imagine that it will be up and running very soon. Mike

To Edge, Jeremy, and Mike, Thanks, big thanks! It would have been terrible for this to have all dissapeared without a replacement done yet. Thanks for keeping this community together!

I would like to thank all of you that have made this board possible. I wonder where I would be with my Savage without it? Thanks, Zen

While I may have butted heads with a particular monitor on occasion, I have learned a lot about these smokless ML's from him and many others on the board. For that I am thankful for their efforts to keep it going. Richard

I was first very shocked the first few times reading the boards here at Doug's. This is the most civil ,friendly, and useful board I have been with. Even the language is very docile! I think the moderators have done a excellent job and I truly appreciate all of there work. Rex

I think that everything has already been said, but I'll add that it sounds like the change has been well thought out. Thank you moderators for trying to maintain the functioning of the site. Pete

I can tell you where I'd be with my Savage if it wasn't for this board. I would probably still be shooting an MK85 and a 12 ga slug gun thinking that shooting smokeless powder in a muzzleloader was some kind of voodoo witch craft and that the gun wasn't safe to use.
I applaud this board, it memebers, and its moderators. What a great community to be a part of.
