When I ordered my barrel a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I dealt with Amy on the phone (Penny had gone home). I specifically questioned her about the "extra special lapping?" She had no idea what I was talking about. She said all their barrels are hand lapped and that mine would look super with my bore scope. So, I left it at that. Mean while I here people talking about their order with this additional charge for a special lapping so..............., I called today, actually I called yesterday after hours, left a message, and Amy got back to me today. Seems there is a "Competition grade" lapping which is an extra $20, so I had her add that to my barrel. While on the phone, I questioned her about a realistic time for getting my barrel as she had said about 4 weeks originally. She said they had a large group of barrels (for the guys on the board) and they were slated for drilling this coming week. She figured they should be ready by the end of January. Don't know and didn't ask about special orders (i.e. fluting etc.). Amy did say that they have now had 45 barrels ordered from the board. So, I guess all those "tack driving sub moa .50's" left a little to be desired? Richard

So, I guess all those "tack driving sub moa .50's" left a little to be desired? Richard You really have a way with words at times. My .50 does shoot very well. It does CONSISTENTLY shoot 1 to 1.5 moa at distances to 300 yds plus. I have shot many rounds thru paper at 300 yds plus with this ML. IF, I ever switch to a .45 version it will be to run away from some of the recoil. I have not seen ANY .40 or .45 groups posted that would make me switch based on accuracy or consistency alone for a hunting iron. Does it do it every time at every distance? NO, but is kind of a strange occurrence, you see it seems to do it every time I do. Funny how that happens. I recognize I am far from a good shooter by today's competition standards. I did not respond when a few days back you implied that some may be just posting their "best groups" sort of thing. Thought maybe the Goat was tired.
[/color] you posted: ".....I don't necessarily disbelieve some of the groups shot beyond 200 yards..........I just don't believe they are shot on as regular a basis as some would have the board to believe. I shoot under probably the best conditions of anyone on this board."And without being contentious I do not believe you shoot under the best conditions of anyone here. Some of the rest of us have premier ranges at our finger tips also. I live all of 16 miles from the Benton Gun Club which I have been a long standing member. In November we completed a new 600 yd range to host events on this upcoming year. You might note that one of our disciplines is a 500 meter Black Powder Cartridge Match. (Me or my Savage ML have trouble competing with these guys). Checkout our Club Website here: www.bentongunclub.org/index.htmlWhat is the Web Address for your Club? I would like to read about it. As SW stated all in fun recently "That shooting is no big deal --- for an Arkansan!" We have the largest NRA Affiliated membership in the US (over 1,000 members to date). NRA membership is a requirement for Club Eligibility. Oh and lest not forget just last week the Sooners and Longhorn basketball programs got a little dose of Arkansas too! No reason to let the Goat rest today. I am going back to sleep now.
