Kevin, Welcome to the board.
IMO, You got a good deal. My guess is your gun is probably around a 2003 model. A friend of mine has the same model and shoots very well. I bought the following year and mine came with the accu-trigger. Steve
PS... You could always call Savage with the serial number to get the exact manufacturing date.

Wakemans ventliners are good. 400 shots seems optimistic. They are MUCH better than the ventliners I've gotten from Savage. I would buy them, if I were you.

Kevin, welcome to the board first of all and now to answer your question. From the SN you gave the ML10II you have is a very early one and I would guess manufactured in the fall of 2000. Blued synthetic stocked and without fiber optic sights. You may also have the quick start muzzle (or as TC calls it, QLA) where the rifling lands are cut down for the first 1.5" from the muzzle. Fiber optic sights were added in 2001 and about the same time the QLA was dropped after complaints from TC. Laminate stocks were not added to the line until the fall of 2001 IIRC. This is probly a "warehouse queen" that was buried on the back shelve at a distributor/retailer. There was some NIB ML10-Is even pop up last year and those haven't been made since 2000. You got it at a real good price, used ones can go for more then the price you paid.

I think Wakeman claims 400% longer life than normal vent liners, not 400 shots.

kevin take that rifle apart and make sure you lube the breech plug and the vent liner up real good before shooting it. You don't want to get any thing stuck.

Kevin- the earlier models also had a front base hole that could be too shallow for the mount screw- the best way to check is to screw it in without the mount and count the turns till it bottoms out- then put the mount on and count again- if its close file some off the length...Rick

make sure ur scope bases are not touching your recoil lug and make sure they do not bottom out before tightning bases

Welcome. Kevin, be sure to go through the tips and hints at the top of the page. Very informative. Don't scrimp on the scope. These MLII's eat cheap ones. I prefer the earlier trigger to the accutrigger. I bought mine in 2002 ,so we have the same vintage. mshm
