OK, you all know already, but I am apparently 100% senile.
Today I started to get the breechplug out and try and fix the bolt-not-closing issue. I have a "C" drill bit, all ready to go.
I don't have the BP removal tool. I have torn the house apart. I have looked all in the cleaning box, the storage closet where all is kept, you name it. I had it at camp during ML season in October, and can NOT firmly remember having it since. It's always in a baggie, with both the tool and the L wrench to tighten/loosen it.
Gone.
So I go all over this site, Savage's website, sav10ml.com website....you name it. Further senility! I can't find any way to order parts from Savage directly, I can't find nuthin'.
I'm going to go sit down and pout. When I come back if someone could point me to a direct URL where I can buy a BP removal tool, I'd appreciate it. I'm sure mine is in the freezer, or in the livewell of my boat, or somewhere and I'll find it later, but till then I need one. You will have to be very specific and probably have to spell out how to order, etc. Right now I feel about 242 years old. My wife calls these "senior moments". I tell her I don't see any reason to relate this problem to some hispanic guy, but that's what she calls them.
Thank you.
*shuffling off now*....

Buckrub.... I know what you mean....I suffer from the same thing. For Savage parts you have to call them in. The removal tool is part #5 on their diagram. 413-568-7001 Between 9:00am and 3:30pm Eastern time. Good luck, Zen

OK. Well, you'd think you could order online. These guys are WAY behind the times, web-wise! Call on phone to order stuff??? What a NOVEL idea!! Thanks!!

Now if somebody would help me find the link to log into the new board I'd appreciate it. Edge said it was at the top and bottom of every board. Zen

Buckrub, I read your post and was going to help you but some yahoos made replies that I had to read and I forgot what you needed. Something about a senorita with a grass short grass skirt on, or maybe something else.

Look for the BP tool in freezer. Thats where I found my cell phone a while back. My wife swears she did not put it there. It had to be her, because if it was not her ,then it had to be me and I'm not ready to admit that.
BR if you've got a spare breach plug and dremel you can make one in pretty short order.

mshm99, you made me laugh out loud. You apparently do not know me. I have a spare breech plug. I have a Dremel. First, the fact that I own those two things doesn't make the slightest impact in my head of how I'd apply that knowledge into making another breechplug removal tool. I've thunk on it and thunk on it, and I can't connect these items. I'm assuming you want me to make something. That tickled me right there. Second, the last time I put a drill type device and a gun in my hands, I completely destroyed a very good Leupold set of rings and bases, and drilled into the cavity of the scope, and it cost me $111.00 to get Leupold to fix it. Now, mind you, I was doing exactly what someone on THIS BOARD told me to do in order to get a scope mount off where the allen nut heads were stripped out. Son, I could destroy an anvil given enough time, especially if I was instructed to build a clock or something. I use my fingers for repair purposes for ONE THING......and that's finding the phone numbers of someone who knows what the flip they are doing. But I'm game to listen if you think you can talk me through it. I'm assuming the instructions begin something like "first get a large pipe........"............

You need: Paper thin abrasive 1" cut off wheels and arbor for the dremel. Quarter inch ratchet,2 or 3" extension, old quarter inch drive 7/16' socket , quarter inch swivel. If you have these , I'll shoot pics on the set up. It does not take long to make.

I know mine is in the boat that is where I always deep the "Fish Wacker". Seriously it might be a good time to buy the EZ Tool. I really like being able to get the BP out without having to crack open the action screws. www.modernmuzzleloader.com/website/Pocampo/eztool.htmlOR Here: dougva.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Savage&action=display&thread=2536
