;D
Get your attention?! Have you noticed that I like to stir the pot?
I'm not aware that the 40 and 45 cal shooters have been denigrating the Sav 10-ML2. I am in awe of what Savage has done. I still work to best what my early model 10-ML2 can do with 58gs VV-120/300SST. It is MOA @ 200 yds and is as came from the factory.
I live where there is NO modern gun season and only a very short ML/shotgun season. Long range hunting is available here. I have a highly modified Sav 10 with a SSS complete work-over with a DouglasXX 8 twist 22-250AK IMP that will actually shoot <1" @ 300 yds. Is it better/more accurate than the stock 22-250 barrel on the Tupperware stock? It is and had better be. I use it to reach way across soybean fields for coyotes(75 A-max/80 Sierra) and have used it on deer elsewhere than where I live(80 Starke) - way out there(500 yds).
People are doing the same thing here. Different calibers and different barrels. I can't afford guns like DD has but am happy for him. I learn from him, Kerry,Edge and others with exotic guns. I like small calibers, period. I use 17HMR,6PPC(in hunting rifles),223, and my "big" gun is 22-250AK IMP. I like small calibers obviously. Same with the smokeless MLer. The 40 offers simplicity, accuracy, and shoots my favorite bullets(175/195 Barnes/200SSTs).
I worked with the 10-ML from day one. Confirmed book loads. Investigated Ltl Gn for Toby/Sav until "that day" after which I got a new 10-ML2 courtesy of Sav. I do not believe that we 40-45 shooters are being critical of 50 calibers. All mine shot, at least after I got thru with them(fire-lapped an almost unredeemable early SS barrel). Kevin B , did it shoot? So please don't be sensitive at the continuing exploration of smokeless Mling. There is room for all.
