2200 fps would be a great load for 0-200 yards for deer!

Mark:
I'm trying to find my color LOL. I do plan on shooting a few PR bullets. It won't be my first rodeo for I fired them 18 months ago.
I must admit indifference toward this bullet as I think jacketed bullets are much easier to shoot to speed in the 10-ML. But just because I think something doesn't make it right. So I'm going to give them another try to see what happens.
I've seen lots of reports on the bullets great long range performance but remain skeptical. Consider it does have the ability (if the posted BC is correct) to shoot PBR of 2" radius to 186 yards. It has 1485fpe at 300 yards and a 20" drop. That's pretty good for a muzzleloader bullet.
But consider this the 200 grain SST/Shockwave can be shot to a PBR of 2" radius to 209 yards. At 300 yards it has 1169fpe and drops to -14". Both loads have about the same recoil. Do you began to see why I don't get too excited?

Mark, the trouble with lead is this thing called "obturation", and when attempting to get them past 2300fps, they can become totally deformed. The DC's and QT's have given me fantastic performance in the Encore with BP substitutes at much slower velocities, but it WOULD be a real kick to get them to 2400fps, and still be accurate!!!
RBinAR, is there ANY powder combination you can think of which would lessen bullet obturation, while producing faster speeds? i.e., a slightly slower powder which burns fast enough to seal the sabot and getting the bullet started down the barrel prior to the main, faster powder taking over to get it to speed??? If such a combination could exist (either with the single or tripple hole liner), wouldn't bullet obturation be minimized by such a "push", rather than quick "bump" which can deform the lead???

Guess I'll have to give up my trip-question marks on this forum -- they posted one of the "smileys" instead!
