8-)The work is finished on this 180 grain bullet. There is no doubt it will shoot fast and accurate in the 10-ML.
I shot the three hole vent liner, Federal 209a primer, short MMP sabot, and the insert described by EDGE and myself in past posts with all shots. I shot with NO sub-base on any shot.
The best single powder proved to be N120 in my rifle. Powders such as Imr-4198 and H4198 may shoot as well or better in other rifles. The best loads are between 75 and 80 grains with speed from 2775 and 2875fps.
Faster loads seem to be available with exotic charges but if you wish to explore those you might consider contacting me by e-mail.
I could write paragraphs on how this bullet has advantages over others but if you are serious about using such bullets in the 10-ML you should already have some idea of what they offer and how to obtain that.
So i can only conclude by saying: I LIKE IT!

But when ( if ever ) will we see some of these inserts? I will not have my samples till mid Summer for some serious testing. I can't speak for RB! edge.

Which bullet is this exactly? I haven't been watching this from the start, but am very interested to start looking at this as a posible deer bullet.

Which bullet is this exactly? This bullet is the Hornady .358 caliber 180 Grain spire point. It has an avertised BC of .248 which isn't great for a rifle bullet but is very good for a jacketed muzzleloading bullet. Even 300 grain .45 caliber muzzleloading bullets seldom exceed this mark. This bullet was chosen beause it is short enough in length as compared to its' caliber to stabilize in the 10-ML's 1 in 24 rifling. It may not be the sleekest, fastest bullet that will stabilize in such rifling but it's getting pretty close. The speed of such a bullet can as you see from the post exceed 2800fps. However it can't be done without a special insert that allows the bullet to ride in a standard sabot for .45 caliber bullets. Bringing such inserts to public use is what is driving these tests.
