Too many variables,, depends on the gun and useage.
Lil'gun, N110, 2400, more....
Depending on what I'm doing and with what gun...

Randy, I still like and use LIL'gun even though it is a vent liner's nightmare. I have had good accuracy and good luck with this powder ;D

Lilgun for me!
It has always been fast and accurate for me.
4759 would be a close second place though...
Vent liners are cheap and easy to replace, so the added speed is worth the sacrifice.

Lilgun for me! It has always been fast and accurate for me. SNIP Vent liners are cheap and easy to replace, so the added speed is worth the sacrifice. I agree on the Lil'Gun, but the work that RB has done with other powders in both standard and unleaded will have me load testing all Summer:-) edge.

I like 70 grs Reloader #7 for most bullet weights. That is with the 3 hole vent liner. 1thumb

Have only used AA 5744 and pleased with accuracy and positive ignition. Am currently looking at some others to try also. ;D

Randy, can you suggest any loads for Reloader 7 and hodgdons 4227. I saw somewhere a listing for Reloader 7 but cannot find it again, would it be safe to assume using hodgdons 4227, with loads for IMR powder? Anyone who reads this post please respond with your views.

ourway:
For either of these powders you'll be a lot better off using the three hole vent liner. It will prevent you from having any misfires with the coated powder (4227) and provide greatly inhanced performance with the slower powder (#7). With the three hole liner I'd do the following.
For H4227 I'd start with 250 grain bullet and the suggested minimum load (for Imr-4227) in the Savage manual and work up ( 1/2 grain increments) looking for signs of pressure when I found an accurate load without blowing sabots or flattening primers I'd stop. Normally about 48 grains is a reasonably point at the upper end.
Shooting Alliant Reloader#7 is a bit different. It's slower and will burn a lot more powder and thus be speedier. Start at 65 grains and if no pressure signs occur move up 2 grains at a time to no more than 75. Somewhere along the way you should find an accurate powerful load. I'll warn you with the three hole liner this powder is likely to shoot 250 grain bullets past 2500fps and that will kick. So you may be looking for less than maximum with this powder

My rifle loves VV N110 and the 250 xtp. I havn't gotten anything else to shoot well. I get 1 1/4 inch groups with my pet load. I have spent $150 on new powders and projectiles, so we shall see. If in a few months I can't get anything else to group then the hell with it. I can get a box of 100 xtp for $14, it is the cheapest Savage shooting going, and they are hell on deer.

I just received my MLBSS 2 months or so ago. It has the one hole liner. I shot it four times and got it sighted in at 25 yards with 44.5 N110 and 250 SSTs. Hoping to get some serious shooting in soon. I'm new to muzzleloading of any kind, black powder or smokeless. I followed the "green board" for a while before buying the ML II.

My Savage shoots very well with loads that are in the 2100 fps area less than 1" with 5744 2" with loads above 2300 fps

43gr. of N110 has been the most accurate so far for me. Tried 5744 and it wouldn't shoot that well in my gun.

;D I have had great luck with my pet load of 47 gr. 110. it shoots consistant 3/4 inch groups as long as you let it cool between shots. other powders I have used dont seam to preform as well out of my gun, and I have used alot of them. my second choice would be lil gun thou it also is very consistant.

With 1 hole vent liner only V V-110 is best overall for me. Many of the others have worked very well for me also. Actually my favorite load is 110/120 10/65 250SST. I doubt that this is your favorite load though.

Too many variables,, depends on the gun and useage. The gun would be the Savage 10ML-II naturally, and the application would be your favorite all-around powder for North American game animals to 700 pounds out to 250 yards.

5744 without a doubt.
I started out in December 2000 with 2400 in a 10-ML and actually got my best accuracy with that. I tried several different powders during the following year but stuck with the 2400 until I read posts from1 Shot-1 Kill and Doug in which both spoke highly of 5744. I tried it and am still using it.
5744 lends itself well to both measuring and weighing, It is easy to ignite, it takes a realtively large variation in load size to affect accuracy and shoots equally well in both my 10-ML and My 10ML-II.
