Since some guys are having trouble with accuracy in the heat, i thought i would try my hunting load today in 82degree weather and see if it performed like it did a couple months ago in 50-60 degree weather. this load is in my original 10 ml with modules. it will shoot more powder than the 10 ml II because it leaks off some of the pressure around the module. Predator II and I proved this last year shooting the same loads, side by side, its about 200fps slower. the load is 4.3 dipper of 4759 which is supposed to be 43grn (weighed 48grn) a 250xtp with mmp (new style) and cci 209m. this load shot thru the chornagraph right at 2400fps with xtps and 2450 with 250 barnes mz. as you can see in the picture it grouped just under 1" at 110yds. the recovered sabots looked very good. i waited about 10 minutes between shots. if some of you want to try this load in your 10ml II's, i suggest you use the 4.0 dipper first and see what your sabots look like. good luck, mike

Good shooting! Thanks for the impressive report. The good old xtp triumphs once again.

Very nice! What a great deer load. If it shoots as well, suspect it will, the250SST will,as you know, have a much flatter trajectory.

Mike, good shootin'
I assume that with the XTP, there was no "tracking" this target! Though I was surprised that it took THREE shots, thank goodness for speed loaders :-)

Some real nice hot weather groups there mike! They would suit me just fine in cold weather too. ;D

Well Mike there you have it. There is no way either of my ML-IIs will shoot this load with this much accuracy in these temperatures. I suppose you bare saboted it as well. I believe part of your success is with the new formula 15% tougher sabots from MMP. You know, these groups are so common place with the savage any more that they are kind of Ho Hum. We expect these rifles to shoot like this all the time with the properly tweaked loads. When they don.t we look to see what is wrong. Really great deer load and with the Barnes MZ a really great anything load. I think that bedding job you did on your rifle has paid off.

thanks guys, the reason i shot this today was just to see if the accuracy would hold up in higher temps. seems it will. the bedding job and strengthening the blind mag has shrunk my groups in half. this group was shot with just a bare mmp new formulation sabot but it will shoot the hornady high pressure sabots just as good with barnes mz bullets. i use xtps to test with because they are cheaper. my gun will also shoot the custom "barnes edge ballistic tip" 250 spitzer .458 bullets using this load just as good. bad thing is, they are a limited edition bullet. lol if my deer run as far as this target did today, it will be an easy deer season. mike

I had excellent results with the 4.3 lee dipper and the 250 sst. I used a sub base with this load when I shot it. Not sure if it was needed, but I was able to cut holes at 100 yrds no problem. Weather wasn't hot but still a great load. Bi pod was used sitting, not off a bench. It is my backup load.

OK guys, I've read on the old board that imr4759 is no longer being made, and have not pursued finding any. Has Hodgden started making it again?
