I was wondering if anyone has ever built a T. Allison rifle ? I have a stock blank I have saved several years for one & was wondering if anyone elds has built one ? Thanks www.custommuzzleloaders.com

No I haven't and to be honest I have never heard of one. Now that I shown everyone how ignorant I am what does one look like, barrel length ect.

They are in: The Longrifles of Western Penn. Thomas Allison (1786-1836) #5 shown is: Overall Length 59 1/2" Barrel Length 43 1/4" Caliber .39 & rifled Weight 10# 8 oz.

This is one is in the same book & rifle illustrated as #6: Overall Length 56 1/2" Barrel Length 41 1/2" Caliber .35 & rifled Weight 8# 9 oz.

Thanks Birddog, They are good looking rifles. They look a lot like some of the Hacker Martin rifles he made while he was over here in Jonesborrow Tennessee back years ago. Hacker even made some of his barrels. He would take a flat piece of iron and lap weld it in his forge then ream and rifle it. What would a barrel hand made like that cost today? Have you seen any of Don Davidson't work? He is in Grey Tennessee as we speak and goes to Friendship twice a year to sell his guns. Lester Smith who was working with Hacker taught Don how to engrave. Lester was said to be one of the best engravers ever. Don is also kin to Hacker through marrage.

No, I don't recall his work. There are so many gunmakers & rifles at Friendship I can't keep up with all of them..... but I sure like going there !

If he is a regular there, I will know his face & work, just not associate his name to it. I may talk to 200 guys while there. Way too may names for my pea brain to keep up with.
