Hey does anybody fish for blues below the Alton, Ill pool? How about by Henderson or Paducah, Ky on the Ohio? My buddies and I have been catching some nice blues at Alton in the 18 to 40# range thru the month of Feb. Have been fighting this cold and havent been back down though this weekend was perfect.

Petey you sly dog you ! Why in the heck did not you call ? I would love to catch a big Blue Fish ;Dman it was 60 here today, if it had not been for church and cleaning my rifles and gear from the shoot yesterday I would have had to give them stripes an early go. You guys have any stripers down there? Rman

I live in Springfield, Ill. We have to drive a couple of hours to fish at Alton. They have some of those hybrid stripers at a Sangchris Lake about twenty minutes from here. The sate record used to see-saw back and forth between it and Heidecke Lake I dont know where it is at now. Rifleman, I was posting about those lowly Bluecats that grow to little pig proportions because they constantly feed. We dead fish for them mostly using up to 6 inch shad baits stuck on a 7/0 kahle or a 8/0 circle being held off bottom with a 5oz to 16oz weight. I fished a tournament at New Harmony, Ind. on the Wabash last year It sure is pretty down there.

Peteo, yes I knew you were talking about Blue cats. I live 4 blocks from the Wabash river and spend alot of time on it allthough I usually hunt it not fish it.
The hybrid stripers are a little different then a true striper. We have hybrids in cataract resv. and stripers in raccoon resv. The true stripers are what I target.

Rman, I remember 1 striper I caught at Sangchris. I was fishing for channelcats with shad gut and a little fillet meat. I had this strange bite ands set the hook into the dumbest 8# striper in the lake. We have some U.S.C.A.T.S. tourneys up on the wabash that were thinking of fishing this year. How far are you from New Harmony?

Well I could not stand it no longer and burnt a vacation day Friday and went to the Alton lock and dam. It was pretty windy and the river had been and still is dropping. It still was a great day we caught 5. One over 35# one just over 30#, two between 20 and 25#, and Ha! a little one at 18#. I LOVE IT!!! Went out to Lake Springfield Saturday and caught 6 three to five pounders. My partner and I were doing a little warm up fishing. We have our first cat tourney this Saturday at Lake Springfield.
