This weekend went to the lake. First thing Saturday morning started getting the boat ready for the season. Put main and deep cycle batteries back in. Hooked up the garden hose and started engine and blew the fogging oil out of it. The had to charge the deep cycle batteries which took some time. Finally around 2:30 got out onto the lake. Not really an ideal time for walleye fishing but we were fishing. We just started fishing and my wife and I had a double header. 2 nice keeper walleyes. Then she lost her entire rig to a pike. I got a small baby pike and put it back. Then 2 small walleye which were released and then a walleye sneaking up on 4 lbs. We were out for an hour and a half. Came in and filleted the fish. This is the result With the fish we had some pan fried potatoes and some tomatoes and onions in vinegar and oil dressing. UMMMMMM

Yeah, yeah, yeah,...Out there with a fancy boat catching and cooking walleye while I am sitting stuffed more with envy than food. Walleye and crappy has to be at the top end of fish eating. Home fried potatoe, tomatoes, and onions (Hopefully vadalia) would go down good but a few hushpuppies or a pan of thin corn bread would go well too. BTW I will have a glass of sweet ice tea. I am pssssed with you for ruining my day.

Hush puppies and corn bread??? I've never had the pleasure but have been forced to sit and watch cooking shows with my wife and I think I might like them. Seems to me the guy cooking was some cajun guy and he put hot sauce in them. Am I right or am I thinking of something else

I am shocked that you haven't tried hush puppies. Some people like them spiced up but many don't. In my area a fish fry without hushpuppies is like being cheated out of half of the fun. I would bet the cajun guy was Justin Wilson. He was from a State South of here.

Well, up here hush puppies aren't a regular dish. You're right, it was Justin Wilson. All I remember was at the start of the show his line was, "How you all are, I glad for you to see me". He cooked a lot of interesting things that we can't get up here, like craw fish, and cat fish. Probably could get it somewhere but likely have to take out a new morgage to pay for it.

Catfish has been popular in the south for many many years but during the last 20 or so they have been raised for marketing and quality has improved. Mostly channel cat around three to four pounds. Today nearly every town has a catfish house that gets big attendance each friday night. If you ever come through my area I will treat you to the best in the state. One little town near here has a population of less than two hundred people and on Thur. Fri and Sat serves close to 1000 customers each day. But that is an exceptionally good place to fill up with wide choices.

Ozark, you obviously have a recipe for hush puppies. Put it on the recipe forum and I'll try it and report back. I'm eager to give it a try.

Will do soon RAF. Right now I am having problems with my Doctor. He probably needs money and I have good coverage in the health care arena. Nothing serious, I think he will live through it. LOL

Nothing serious, I think he will live through it. LOL ;D ;D ;D good one. Reminds me of a story. A fellows lawn more breaks down and his wife pesters him to fix it but he was too busy, hunting, fishing, golfing. One day he comes home and finds his wife in the front lawn, sitting, and clipping the grass with a small pair of scissors. He watches for a while and then goes into the house. He comes back out and hands her a tooth brush and tells here that when she's finished the lawn to sweep the driveway. He doctor told him he would walk again but he'll always have a limp......
