For those of you who met Jake the Woods in the book. I just got a call from his Daughter who he stays with in Oklahome. Jake is passing blood and they say it is a bladder tumor. Unfortunately the VA hospital Urology section does't have a bed right now for him but hopes to have one soon. At his age (Born in 1917) undergoing a lot of tests and chemo or surgury might be more than his body can handle. So If you read about him and feel the urge you can say a prayer for Jake. This is his brother Bob, Ben

Update. They went in and removed a small tumor but left a large one that they didn't think advisable to remove at his age. He has elected not to take radiation or chemo due to age and strength. The Doctors agree with that decision. So he is back with his daughter. At some point we reach an age and physical condition that rules out drastic surgery. I accept being at that point myself. He and I have both had long and interesting lives. My book about us make him feel his life was a success and he is sure proud to answer to Jake. I am happy to have honored him in the book and I have been honored by this forum. I don't mind telling you members that you mean a lot to me and have provided me with a lot of pleasure reading and posting when other outlets have been denied me. Thanks for the prayers and caring. Ozark.

Ozark
I am behind the times as I am just catching up with this thread. I am also saddened to hear of Jake’s condition. It is my fondest wish that his remaining lifetime is filled with the highest quality possible.
I have not as of yet read your book dedicated to your brother and hope to find a copy one day. The quality of life you have added to your brother with this book to me is very admirable and he is also very fortunate to have such a brother as you.
Ed

Sorry for the late reply Ben, I pray now that God has answered all prayers and that your brother will have peace and comfort . I know it has been sometime since the last post, but I know that God always answers our prayers.
I pray for comfort and understanding for you and your family as well.
Thank you Lord for taking up all prayers for Ben's brother.
