Packed up my Savage and another new toy I picked up Friday and headed toward the range. I'd been reading lately about the TC Triumph and how well it shot with Blackhorn 209. I sold one of my centerfires last week and took the money and bought my grandson one of those Triumphs and then added my Nikon 3x9 too it. Several on Modern Muzzleloader wrote that they were getting good results with 110-115gnv BH209 and various bullets. I planned to try some 250 sst, 275 Parker BE, and the 300 Remingtons. I was more than surprised at how the Remingtons performed. They've proved themselves to be very accurate in my Savage. Two of the 200 yd groups were the smallest I've ever shot with any ML at that distance. I quit shooting the sst's and the Parkers after one group and enjoyed the Remingtons the rest of the day. My Savage took the day off also. My grandson is only 5 years old so I'll have plenty of time to get used to this new toy. ;D. Check these out. Zen The top group was the Remingtons 110gnvBH@ 100yds -1860fps avg The bottom group was the 250 SST 110gnvBH @ 100yds -1969fps avg 300 Remingtons @ 200yd Another 300 Remington @ 200yd Below, 250SSt @ 200yd As good as this seemed it still doesn't come close to the flat shooting smokeless loads. I ended up sighting the Triumph in at around 4" high @ 100 and 4" low at 200 with 1860 fps. Not bad but still a slowpoke rainbow compared to my Savage 3" high @ 100 and dead on @ 200 at 2400 fps. with the same bullet. I know this a smokeless board but I couldn't help myself. Zen

I'm willing to bet that lots of folks on this board have non-smokeless in-lines collecting dust in a closet since getting a Savage. I know I do. The arrival of BH 209 may have renewed interest in them (as a backup for the real deal of course) so good shooting and thanks for posting your results here.

Great shooting, especially for that many shots!

Later on in the day when the temperature rose and after 30 shots with no swabbing they opened up to about 3". That rifle definately shoots and those Remingtons are definately accurate at all speeds. Those two 200yd groups were 11" below the targeted bullseye. I had two targets stacked on top of each other with the point of impact set at dead on at 100yds. Zen

DBnNY, funny you should say that about BH209 and MLs relagated to gathering dust after buying a 10ML-II, as was the case after I bought my 10ML-II. Since buying some BH209, I just finished taking my Encore 209x50 out of storage and getting it ready for my next range session. Which BTW is as soon as the wind dies down at my favorite range. Im kinda excited because I have allot of SSTs that I am leary of using in my 10ML-II as I shoot at speeds above 2350 with 300grn bullets as a rule. Way past the SSTs practicle performance envelope for hunting use.
