Went to my first 600 yd shoot saturday,I didn't do good or didn't do to bad considering I had to shoot my factory stock rifle against rifles costing in the $1000's.Shot for score four 5-shot groups (20 shots) My score was 4.57inch avg which was less than MOA but checkout this fellows score that broke the record.
I hope you all had a good time and congratulations Paul Wagner for breaking two long range records 0.711 single LG Group and 1.628 LG Group agg.
An't that awesome??? Thats what you call shooting. Had a great time and will do it again. Thanks Richard

I was useing the savage F/TR in 308.I don't know what the guy shooting the .711 group was shooting.I was useing a load that I had only shot 5 bullets at 300 yds with the week before and got a 1 1/2 in with at 300 yds.Might have done a little better with another load. I think that was the last shoot this year so got to next year to get a better load. I've thought about haveing a custom built but haven't made up my mind yet.I cannot compete with the big boys anyhow.I just like to shoot and have fun at it.I have a semi custom savage in 260 that I am working up a load for now that looks very good. Just git back from the range (it rained all day yesterday) tried four different powders and a 175 gr sierra in my savage 308 and 2 of the four 3-shot groups at 100 yds were one holers and the other 2 were pretty close to being. Didn't have as much time today as I do on tuesdays but did shoot one shot each at 1,2 and 300 yds with my thumbhole savage useing the N120 and 250 sst and all three would have been right behind the shoulder at all 3 ranges.Think it is ready to hunt. So had another great day at the range again this week.Richard should be back next week.

I know the feeling Herman of doing very well and being so far out classed and outshot that one wonders if it is really possible to do what that guy just done. I seen a friend of mine named Ronald Turner go twenty rounds clean at 1000 yards using military M1 with Iron sights. Yes, the bulls eye was forty inches but still it has to be some shooting beyond what this man could ever do. I felt like a five year old kid trying to slam dunk a basket ball on a regulation course. It didn't bother me one bit to beat his butt on the golf course time after time after time. LOL Ben
