OK how many times has this happened to you.
OK i went out early season ML here in PA today(doe only). the squirrels and birds where out in numbers too. I'm 12 feet up in a 2 man tree stand(I'm a BIG BOY and i fit better) i was looking intently to find some deer cause it was hard to hear them over those other critters. i had a pair of squirrels playing behind me. i was getting annoyed cause of how long this had been going on. so i turn around and OOPS!!! THE WHERE GONE AND THERE STANDS 2 DOE STAIRING RIGHT AT ME 10 YARDS AWAY! OK i hold still and a little late they put head back down and i start to move to get a shot and they lift their head right away. do this several times for a bit and i get behind the tree I'm in and soon as i pop out the other side ready to shoot BOOM their gone. frustrating at the time but funny now. the deer must have been grazing under the leaves to make it sound like the squirrels. well any way thought you might get a laugh out of this.

Intersting. It happens to all of us. I like to use the birds, squirrel and other critters to alert me to approaching deer. Squirrel will often start chattering. Crows are great watch dogs and are quick to give the alarm. But it is all enjoyable for me. It is happenings like yours that causes us to respect the alertness and survival instincts of the deer. Ben
