OK i know this isn't talked about much, but here in PA we have a early season ML antler less/doe only season. the deer are not moving much so i wonder if any one here has called or can recommend a call or calling technique for calling in a doe. even a scent if you think it will help.

The best trick I have seen for a doe is a fawn bleat or squeal, seems to stir up the mother instincts and does will come running but they will be on full alert. The best thing is to have a partner or son do the calling in a holler with good concealment and the shooter be in a good overwatch position. You want a continuous series of squeals for about 3 minutes, like the fawn broke a leg or is being attacked by a coyote. You want a good calling technique, if you screw up one squeal the older does will know and your busted. Then stop for a couple of minutes and then start again. When they come in they will be on full alert and be heads-up and looking to see what is going on. They will not go right to the call but will be trying to see whats up and they will be jittery so you'll have to be quick.

I think Rossman40 has the best answer as usual. Once I got in a tower stand just befor dark and turned on a predator call that sounded much like a fawn bleet. Deer raced in from three directions but were observing on the run. None stopped long enough to provide a hunter of deer with a shot but it sure got their attention. I think these were trying to get any predator near to chase them. They sure are not fighters. Ozark

This may sound weird, but I swear its happened twice to me. When I've rattled & grunted does have appeared shortly afterwards. Whether they were just there or were drawn in by curiosity--I don't know. Maybe they were wantin to know who the big dawgs were that might be breedin them??
