I've been trying to get a mulie doe. I have to turn in 2 doe heads to earn a mule buck tag. White tail are everywhere this year. Yesterday I saw 9 pass by my bind. The first was a doe that came out of the bush 70 yds away and walked towards me. She stopped 10 yds away and began to browse on the tips of poplar tree that I had cut down a few weeks ago to open a shooting lane. She looked at me a couple of times but I didn't move and she was startled. I took a picture of her but haven't downloaded it yet and don't know how it turned out in the low light. If it's good I'll post it. Pretty soon 3 more deer, all spike bucks, came out of the same bush and walked up and joined the doe browsing on the new twigs. They wandered of in time. Another doe went by at 100 yds., then another spike walked by at 50 yds. After a pause of 20 minutes a buck came out at 90. He's a big fella, 6 X 6. Last time I saw him I gave him a pass but decided afterwards that if I saw him again, I'd take him. Unfortunetly before I could get the gun up he stepped over a hill and went into so trees. He was only in the open for about 10 yds. In this picture you can see where he crossed which was 10 yds past the deer you see.
I watched him as walked along the other side of a narrow band of trees and when he came past the end of it he was in the open but my shot was blocked by some small shrubs beside my blind. Will have to do a little more clearing next year.
That buck was travelling with a 4 x 4 and they both disappeared across a few hills. A while later another buck crossed in the same place but he was really running and couldn't get a look at him.
