Hello, If I was to move to Tennessee what are the opinions of the best area for deer and hog hunting? Thanks for any opinions.

I'm not a hog hunter, but I hear Tellico is a good area. I was talking to a warden on the Catoosa WMA 11/15/08, he says they are covered up with hogs. My ML deer permit was also good for hogs and I don't recall any restrictions. You shouldn't have a problem finding a place to shoot pigs in TN. For deer the state is divided into 3 types of units A, B, and L. B is most restrictive -- eastern moutains and L the most liberal -- middle and west. www.state.tn.us/twra/Bill

The plateau area, Crossville etc has many, many hogs. Any hogs on private land can be hunted year round. There are a couple of WMA's which have some hog restrictions. Deer populations in Mid TN are vast and laws pretty liberal. Bag limit of 3 does a day throughout the season. Bearing in mind that bow season opens in September and gun does not end until early January, should be no excuse not to stock the freezerssssssss

Thanks for the info., this really helps when looking for an area to live and hunt in. Sure beats buying a place and then having to drive to another area to hunt when you could have found a home there. Timberman
