He has watched for years as I avidly pursue my passion for bow hunting. He wants to learn the ways of a woodsman and to hunt in the swamps and farm fields that I have brought him to so many times to help me retrieve my harvest. He has spent many hours at the bench...refining his marksmanship with 12 gauge slug gun. Now.after spending a morning hunt in a stand facing a 15-20 mph wind in an already 18 degree temp day without the first complaint...he has earned my respect as more than just a child that "says" he wants to hunt. I am very proud of the young man my 11 year old has become. 75yds...dbl lung shot. The look on his face after 4 hard hunts says the rest. Proudly, Brigg

Congrats Brigg jr. If he's 11 and practicing/hunting with 12 guage slugs, he will have no problem shooting my Savage loaded for bear! ;D

Having killed my first deer this year while hunting with my dad, I can honestly tell you that you, the dad, and hunting with you, will be the fondest part of his memories, not the deer. Thanks for putting your child first and spending time with him. No matter what age a child we are (I'm 51), we always need our dads! And you are right, his smile says it all. Congratulations to you both.......what a Thanksgiving, huh? ;D O.O.

Congratulations to both of you. While yet a child I looked up to those people who had killed a deer. I didn't feel like any person who had not killed a deer to really be worthy of respect. Now, that I am well into my second childhood at 80 Plus years I respect the youngsters who takes their first deer. The smile on this DEERHUNTERS face tells us a lot. The feeling inside that he is experiencing tells him so much more. I still remember well the experience. Ozark

I just sent my last son on his way. He is in boot camp now. I have an empty bedroom and only two miles to a 600 yard range. If your son wants to run away from home please have him e-mail me for instructions.
I am sure you are as proud as you should be.
PS We shoot bears, too.
