I went to Google and typed in "crossbow forums". Interesting sites. I found that the Parker Safari Mag #175, what I have, is definitely one of the faster crossbows and is one that delivers exactly what it says it will do(341'/sec with 100g points on std supplied bolts). Considering the price of the x-bow, the relatively light wt and smaller size, and extreme accuracy(now appx 1 1/2" 3-shot groups @ 70 yds), I am extremely pleased with this crossbow. Being that we have very few gun days here n NE AR(and they are MLer/shotgun), the crossbow is my primary hunting weapon(torn rotator cuff on rt arm - really affected bow shooting). With 3X12 Sitetron 2 MD scope on it set on 4X, using 1 dot above x-hair for 20 yds, crosshair for 30, etc I can sight to 70 yds. The crossbow is a serious 70 yds weapon and will be further as I continue to work with it. Indexed, matched bolts are extremely accurate. The Parker Cyclone(350'/sec), Excalibre Exomat, Stryker, and Desert Stryker all seem interesting. Especially the two Strykers: one is so large and bulky and the other(55'/sec slower) seems just right size/wt wise. Any long range shooting experiences with these crossbows?

The fartherest I've shot with my 175 Parker Terminater is 50 yds I'm not real happy with the Truglo scope that came with the bow I'm looking into the Excaliper illuminated vary-scope for next year Other than the scope the price and preformance are an excellent deal There might be someone out there that loves the truglo scope that comes with the package

I just looked at my "made in China" Parker scope and it does read "Truglo". I had never noticed that but had taken it off not long after buying the x-bow. A quality scope really helps. The Excalibre scope seems a grade up. The supplied truglo scope wasn't good in low light. The Sitetron 2 scope is better but still not great. I wish there was a really good 4 power scope with at least 7 ranging marks(would likely need the center , the cross-hair, to be 30 or 40 yds). I've never seen an Excalibre scope or the illuminated Truglo scope. There is a 3X9 Leupold tactical scope with mil-dots. Since any type of gun season is only a minimal part of deer season here, the x-bow is my primary hunting weapon. A quality scope seems in order.

Thanks, Ray. I am very impressed with the value for money of the Parker. The Parker seems to be as good as it gets for the money. I've worked on a # of cross-bows for others thru the years and have been very disappointed in Barnetts and Hortons but that was 10 thru 20 years ago. By the looks of various reviews, these brands have improved significantly. The Swiss crossbow really sounds interesting. Swiss things tend to be expensive .
