Just got back from shooting. Shot my new pro hunter. Tried using triple 7 and pyrodex pellets. Used 150 and 100 grain loads. Was using the 250 grain Knight EZ load polymer tipped MZ sabots. After one shot with both the triple 7 and regular pyrodex with both 100 and 150 grain charges, I was unable to seat the sabot for the second shot due to crud. It would stop about 1/2-1" before the powder. I pushed and pushed and it just wouldn't seat. The shots when not seating would tumble at 50 yds. The bullets would hit the target sideways. Do you think this was from not seating the bullet or my gun just doesn't like these sabots? I really want to use the barnes sabots. Would it help to go away from the EZ loads? Any ideas on the powder/seating issue? I'm thinking about trying the Blackhorn 209 powder. Anyone have experience with this? I need to be able to seat the bullet. I don't want to clean the barrel every shot. What happens when you need to take a second shot on a deer? No seat and tumbling bullet? I'm willing to do anything to keep using the Barnes sabots. Even different Barnes sabots. Just need to find combination. I also tried the T7 primers. Used 2 with crud still building up after the first shot. The rest wouldn't fit. They are either too long or the lip on them is too thick. Wouldn't allow the gun to close or cock. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

what you are describing is dangerous ! when the bullet sits atop the powder charge, with an air space, it tends to act like a barrel obstruction !!!! I would not continue to shoot like that.
What you are experiencing is typical of the T7/pyrodex loads.........
I would try the blackhorn if that is unacceptable to you.

I agree with Bubba. Stop doing that! If you feel the need to continue using yesterday's propellant, then do what we all did back then and take the time to clean the barrel between shots. If you need a fast second shot, carry a second weapon. Buckhorn 209 works. Try it.

Tried Blackhorn 209 yesterday. Didn't have any problems seating the sabots. They actually went down easier after the first shot. Didn't clean for 10 shots. The gun shot great. Held good groups. I won't use any other powders unless there is a better one that comes out. It blew away the pyrodex and triple 7.

Blackhorn is the one. Hope you didn't mess the barrel up shooting it without the bullet properly seated.

I shot my first 22 shots of it yesterday, I like it, cleanup was about 6 patches, and then the plug.
Otherwise, a breeze compared to T7 or anything like it.
