Well, not in the way that you may think.
This year I shot my Savage 5 times and killed 5 deer.
Shot my pistol 3 times and killed 3 deer. These 3 were laying on the ground and dying from marginal but anchoring hits by others I was hunting with. It was nice not having to poke them with a knife or blow their brains out with the Savage @ 5 feet. 2 of these deer didn't really need it. 1 did as it was paralyzed and not vitally struck. All does.
I wanted real bad to shoot a healthy doe at 20 yds or less with my pistol this year. I have found out that the only way to do this is to leave my long gun at home. When the deer show up, I just go with the slam dunk. I can't seem to go out with only a revolver.
Maybe one day. I carry a 4 inch Ruger GP100 and keep it stuffed with 158 Fed Hydroshocks. I feel it's adequate but marginal. Archery shots only....at least for me. I can keep all my shots inside a 6 inch circle out to about 30 yds.

That gun/load will kill them fine, I shot and killed 8 with a 357 out to 100 yds years ago before I got my 44 mag. I used 158 jsps.
