I am looking to put for some target sessions my Nikon 4x12x50 but my savage has iron sites and wont fit. I can take off the rear iron site but left is a screw hole. I don't have a screw to fit so was wondering if savage would have a screw to fit that hole and next would there be any harm in leaving the iron site off and that hole exposed? ? I am thinking of getting a Bushnell 4200 2.5x10x50 ill dot to put as a permanent scope for this gun. So in the mean time I want to use my nikon 4x12x50. Just wondering about that screw and if leaving it exposed would be harmful??? thanks Brian

fill it with wax, either a crayon that is similar in colour to the barrel or regular parafin and just heat up with a heat gun to remove. you can apply it by rubbing it into the screw hole and take of the excess with a small piece of leather.

Great idea. If I called savage would they have a screw for that hole for me for a more permanent fix.
Thanks

Yes call Joe Degrande in Savage Arms customer service and he has the screws. He has sent them to be before.

Any gunsmith and most gun shops will have filler screws and can provide one that's the right length.
