I found this interesting site earlier today. It discusses about the chamber design and ballistics of the Handgonne. It can be found at [ftp]http://www.musketeer.ch/blackpowder/handgonne.html[/ftp]

Walt: Mr. Bretscher's work on the Handgonne ballistics is very well done indeed! He does add two recipes of making Black Powder at www.musketeer.ch/blackpowder/powder_frameset.html Considering how much (or lack of) data is available from the original sources, I was glad that someone was able to do an actual recreation of the weapons and powder of the time. Ahhhh, now that www.handgonnes.com/ is back up in operation, I really can't wait to get the long barrelled Handgonne that I had asked Graywolf to build for me. ;D
