I have a chance to get a 50 caliber, Thompson Center Pennsylvania Hunter rifle with a 26 inch barrel.
Are these good rifles?
Will other Hawken barrels fit the PA Hunter?
Don't these have roundball barrels?
I'd like to hear any positive or negative comments.
Thanks for your help.

First of all the Pa Hunter is a round ball twist gun (1 in 66 twist). The second thing is I didn't know they made this model in a 26 inch barrel. If memory serves they made a rifle model with a 31 inch barrel and a carbine with a 21 inch barrel. Both use a 15/16 barrel. The only other barrel I know of which will fit the stock without any modifications is the White Mountain Carbine. A Hawken barrel WILL fit but the barrel rib will be short and won't come all the way back to the fore end of the stock. The WMC and the Pa Hunter is more or less the same gun with a different barrel length and twist. The other difference is the WMC has a rubber recoil pad where the Pa Hunter has a steel butt plate. All in all the Pa Hunter is a good gun and most show fine accuracy with a good load.
