Just noticed this page and thought I'd relate mystory. About 5 years ago a friend wanted to sell his 22-250. Never had one so decided to give it try. It's a Remington 700 BDL and came with a fixed 8X Leupold. Traded the Leupold for a 6 -24 Bausch and Lomb with 1/4 minute target dot. It had been properly cleaned in quite some time and took a lot of work to get the copper fouling out of it. Went to work working up a load. It shot nice with 55 gr Sierra HP and 38 gr of H380. Tried 50 gr HPs but couldn't make it shoot. Tried some 40gr Hornady V-max and it shot real nice with 40.5 gr H380. They cleared the bore at just over 4000fps. Finally settled on 40 gr Hornady Moly coated. Didn't Crony them but think they're close. Get groups at 100 yds in the 1/2 inch range. They sure raise hell with gophers(Richardson Ground Squirrels). We don't have prairie dogs up here is Saskatchewan. No problem hitting them a 200 yds unless there's a cross wind. Turns them into red mist. As far a coyotes go, don't get out as often as I like, but that little bullet knocks them flat.
