I've never tried this before but a bobcat has moved onto a friends farm and he wants him gone. Since he lets me deer hunt there and wants to protect all his domestic animals (and wild turkey population) we have decided to make him our pet project for this next month. Does anybody have any advice for hunting bobcats? I would appreciate any advice, thanks. Craig

Craig I am no Bobcat hunter but I am kinda of a specialist in geting rid of nuisance animals. There are many ways to skin a cat in this situation ;D. But things like bait, nighttime, lights, and a rifle with a good scope tends to work wonders in a case such as yours But I am sure somebody with bobcat expertise will chime in soon. If you strike out, pm me later on down the road, and I will share some of my more dastardly tricks if needed.....maybe

Here in PA the bobcat is protected unless you are one of the very few lucky ones to draw a tag. I only ever killed one & was in Alabama while deer huntin.
I picked-up a Sceery Premium Outfitter Grade (Eastern Region)Trophy 3 call kit and a Sceery Double Barrel Howler along with Ed's video to use for yote huntin. Ed does cover bobcats, foxes etc. and the similar methods and some of the same calls are used for both the yote and bobcat...such as screemin rabbit, rodent types etc. My Dad hunted them in PA many years ago when it was legal and I remember he hunted at night with an ole Johnny Walker electronic call.
Maybe check into some of the Sceery calls, tapes... or other comparables.

Set up in a treestand or groundblind about 35-50 yards from a decoy. Your decoy could be a turkey feather hanging from a string or a toy animal (rabbit size or smaller). Put decoy where it is easily seen and start calling on a rabbit in distress call.
Bobcats take longer than coyotes to respond to the call so be patient in your calling. They will sneak in and stalk the prey so cal in an area where they have some cover in their approach. Best time to call is in the early morning or in the evening unless you can call at night (which is illegal here in OKLA.)
What I use is below but I spend a lot of time hunting coyotes & bobcats so my setup cost more than you would want to spend. But a cheap portable cassette player and calling tape would also work.
I use a Johnny Stewart preymaster and have a Azden remote caller to avoid wires. My decoy is a "dancing coke bottle", attached to small steel pole. I mounted a small toy (removed most of the stuffing from the toy) and when the dancing coke bottle is placed next to my speaker it dances from the screaming calls.. Good luck and have fun!!
