The groups I get are "dead" @ 300 + yards. Never did go out and see if the little p-dog died of heart shot, or body shot. Not enough to tell.

O'Ok dave,in my Savage 110 fp about 1.385" .223 with a 50 gr. Nosler bt,@ around 2950 fps. But since I'm not a target shooter anymore, just out to help the ranchers with their dogs. Had a freind once, he thought faster was better---- but he couldn't get them to group either, I told him to back off on the powder and his groups would improve, besides "dead is dead" no matter how fast that bullet is going. Hope this helps.

Dave, my range doesn't go to 300 yds. It does go to 200 but have to admitt I've never shot at paper at that range. All my paper shooting has been at 100 yds where my 22-250 groups around a 1/2 inch. I've shot at baseball size rocks at 200 and have no trouble hitting them. I'm shooting 40 grain Hornady V-Max at just over 4000 fps. Most of my varmint shooting is on gophers at out to 200+ yds.

Dave, come on out to western Kansas, and see if you can shoot as far as you can see? One year I was out there and seen a coyote about a mile, I knew I couldn't hit him, but i had fun for about 4 shots, till it crawled up into the earth. He had no idea were the shots where coming from. Just make sure ya bring lots of bullets.
