I just started reloading for my H&R varminter rifle. I want to use 50gr. bullets. Do you have any pet loads that you could recommend?

Varget powder for my .223 and my friends .222 produced beautiful groups with consistent velocities through varying temperature ranges. This is a compressed powder load using the maximum amount shown in the hodgdon reloading manual. Sorry am at work and don't have my manual handy for numbers. Ed

cjp, on my .223 i use 23.5 grs. of AA#2200 with a 50gr.bt. But the last time I looked your can not get anymore #2200. It was a surplus powder, higher velocity, with less powder, less muzzle flash, and less recoil, I wish i had about 2 or 3 more kegs of it. Hope that helps,Richard..

In the 223 I am using a 50 gr Nosler BT in front of 26.5 grs of W748. Velocity is 3,200= and groups are a MOA+ at 100 & 200 yards. The last group was 2 9/16 for 10 shots at 200 yards. Ground hogs just fall back-wards if hit in the chest or above.
