Heres the story- I slept in till 8AM. Messed around the house til about 10AM. Was going to go to the office, but I decided to head to one of my hunting spots and take a peek. This place is a BIG hill the top of it and and the bottom are ag fields. The sides are woods- about 150yrds wide. Anyway I get there the wind is blowing terribly, but in my favor. I get into the edge of the woods, go from tree to tree, get to where the hill really drops off, find a big oak tree to stand buy. I then start glassing the hill side and find 3 does bedded down about 125yrds. Great. I sit there for 20min and another big does comes in, but she is acting odd. About 3min later I glass behind here and see this buck, I quickly decide its shooter and set my binos down. Well I take my eyes off the deer for about 30secs to pick up the ML and when I look back to them no buck in sight. Im thinkin WHAT THE F@%K!! I stand there another 10min and I here a twig snap to the right of me and I see antlers coming up the hill... right twords me..50yrds. I get ready, he comes up the hill abit more exposes all of his neck. He turned to look at the does and BOOM. Down he goes. Weapon used was a Savage 10ML-1, the 250SSTs @ 2550FPS did the trick!

Congrats,, Good looking deer!! Ain't it the way it goes though,, turn your rifle into a deer sniping platform and never get the long shot. I've been ready for the last 4 years for a 200yd shot and every deer has been less the 60yds.

very nice story and rifle. now to tease the goat..... how did the bullet do at that speed and range? Suprisingly well. I thought for sure that it would nuke, but it didnt hit anything hard.. Little over 1" exit.
