My son and I doubled out on bucks today! What a wonderful experience to share with your pride and joy!We are both using Savages(What else duh!),both using 60 grn of N120,Fed 209a,harvester crush rib and the 300 grn barnes orginal. My sons deer was a boom flop, at 130 yds.Dads deer was shot at 10 yds ;Dand took about 12 steps. Now get this, both deer had already been shot previsiouly!Hail Mary 12 ga slug holes. We find 1-3,sometimes more wounded deer per year. The second guy Dwight and I encountered at the range this past friday must be on the loose with his Mosserg and rifled barrel shooting foster slugs, all the while looking through his BSA air-rifle scope mounted on aluminum wally world bases and rings!True story!LOL!He could not figure out why it would not group! deer pics tomorrow! Your son just gets back from a wrestling tournament in time to get to the field with his dad and get a deer. Pretty good weekend for all (except the deer) I would say.

Glad the day turned out productive. The shotgun set up is really funny, actually sad. Public ranges and public hunting areas are not the safest places to be. I hate, absolutely hate "hunter orange"!!! But I believe there is very good reason for it's use.

Congratulations Rick and Quenton! I tagged out today also with a nice 10 pointer. 152 yard offhand shot with my Encore. I was suprisingly steady or I would not have taken the shot. I will try to learn how to post pictures and post mine also.

Way to go Rick, did you shoot your deer with Q's gun or the gun with iron sights?

Way to go Rick, did you shoot your deer with Q's gun or the gun with iron sights? I shot mine with the gun you loaned me.Quentin learned a lesson about not being all squared up for the shot.He had himself hyper extended leaning back a round the tree, the butt pad was down on his arm and not planted firmy,so he had to climb up on the scope=knot on head!LOL!He now knows this is a pretty stout load!He was still grinning from ear-to-ear!

Hunting with your son! Man that is great. What part of Indiana are you in? Dwight and I hooked up in Brazil a few weeks back. All of us Indiana boys need to get together sometime for a shoot. Anyway, Congrats to you and your sons success!

Great job tar12. Looks like nice young deer that will make fine eating. It always provides me with a good feeling when I see parents and their children creating lifetime memories together. Congratulations to you all and thanks for sharing. Ben
