Yes this deer was taken this year. Not with that gun. Photos are mixed up a bit. That is a stock on a Savage MLII I replaced, that is a muzzlebrake on a new barrel I am working on. The deer was taken with a Sav/SMI barreled MLII. I got that since my regular Sav was out of commission. I have seen better deer so I initially let this one pass. It was raining and my uncles wanted some deer meat and later when the deer returned following a doe I decided to shoot. The antler/skull plate weighs just under 6 pounds. It is kind of difficult to judge it with no background to compare it with. I used a 250 SST, it broke a rib on the way in and broke the far leg when it stopped. The lead core stayed together until I cleaned the bullet, it weighed about 160 grains.

my father lives in NE OHIO and ive been encouraging him to start hunting over there cause it is much flatter and easier wlking for him. and if he can get permission to use his quad even better. as some know he is handicapped by no feeling in his feet and wlking here in W PA isnt too safe at times and limits his areas. ill send him this post to encourage him. i know " there's no place like home" , he's from pa origionally, but to drive all the way over here and that pic is what a NICE deer would look like in these parts when he can shoot some thing like that over there, why come here?
