Either one will do the job. I'd used the one that shot best in my gun. mike

bigjim,
Exactly what mike3132 said. Many beefy whitetails were taken by my Knight hurling the 250 MZ's. I do not remember recovering anything but the deer. No worries.

The 250 and 300 grain Barnes will shoot through most deer sometimes longwise. I used a 300 grain to take a bull elk so take your choice I don't think you can go wrong.

I have used the 250mz, awesome performance, hit one kinda in the middle - guess it was moving faster than I thought, at any rate, it hunched up, went about 10 feet and laid down, there was a basketball sized clump growing out of the exit side, bullets work great- oh ya, that was with 80 T7 ff powder at about 75 yards.

My brother used a 290gr Barnes Spitfire TMZ and three Triple seven pellets and dropped a nice bull moose at 157yds with a neck shot, the TMZ was recovered and displayed a beautiful expansion. I don't know if that helps but I'm sure for deer either will do nicely!
