Might be purchasing this setup for elk hunt this fall. Does anyone shoot this rig, and is it capable of 250-300yd shooting with 250gr shockwaves ?

On paper at the range, sure it's capable of 250-300 yards, if you account for the trajectory. For elk, I'd go with a 300 grain bullet, and I'd keep shots to under 200 yards.

I agree. I have passed up shots on elk at 150 yards just because in real hunting conditions shots that far are too dependent on elevation changes, wind, and the excitement of the hunt. My longest shot to date on elk is 95 yards. Try hitting a paper plate at 300 yards when you are excited and in an area of unknown elevation change and possibly a good side wind or worse yet a swirling wind of unknown direction. Maybe I just don't shoot enough; but that is my known ability. I am practicing at 150 yards this year just to see if I can get some confidence on longer shots. Two new rifles capable of heavy conicals might do it. The light pistol bullets drift too much in the wind.
