When you wrap your BP with tape how many turns do you make? Just a single turn or more the full length of the threads?

One turn, slightly overlapped. Also...applied in the direction that will cause the tape to remain on the plug as it's inserted.

That's about right!
I though you were asking about teflon taping conicals. I do that too.

Why do you tape the conicals?

Taping breech plugs is a trial and error process.
On my Lyman Mustang, I use three wraps of the yellow (gas line) tape. I kind of stretch the tape as I wrap it, then push it down into the thread grooves with my fingers so that it is moulded to the threads. When I install the plug it's pretty tight to turn in. And I snug it up all the way against the stops. At the end of a 25 or 30 shot range session it's just as tight taking out, but has never seized. When I take it out it may have a few "strings" of the tape on the plug threads, which peel right off. The threads of the plug are always squeaky clean. Then I push my breech plug brush into the breech a little past the threads and take it out with an unscrewing motion. The tape comes out on the brush as a ball of yellow threads. The threads in the barrel are just as clean as the threads of the breech plug. I'll never use any type of anti seize grease again.
I suggest you increase the number of wraps until you reach a point where it's really tight screwing in.

Semisane is probably right about the trial and error. I just ran out of my supply of gasline tape. Went to a few different stores to find some. I found some but it is not as thick as my original supply.
I've never found a need to have so much on my plug that I couldn't fingar tighten the plug at least half way before needing the extra leverage of a wrench tool handle. Also, all my tape stays on the plug and the inside threads do not seem to retain any teflon.
