First you need the following ingredients: 2- LBS of Deer Burger (No Added Fat) 1- 16 oz. jar of Salsa (either mild, medium, or hot) 1- 2.5 oz bag of McCormick's Taco Seasoning 1- Large chopped onion 1- Cup of water
Brown burger in deep skillet until brown and then add onion, Salsa, and taco seasoning mix and add one cup of water. let simmer until done. Be careful not to let the mixture burn!
This is a very versatile way to use deer burger in the following manner:
1. Spoon on whole wheat buns for "Slopy Joes". 2. Mixture may be used as Spaghetti Sauce (very good) also good with rice. 3. Spoon on pre-made Pizza crust, add cheese, bake in 400 degree oven untill done, and you have a spicy pizza. 4. Add a can of chili beans and you'll have a very good tasting venison chili! 5. Also makes great Tacos too!

I printed that one out. I think that will work quite well. We usually freeze 2 or 3 lbs of seasoned meet for those lazy moments when you just dont feel like cooking.

You might want to go back and reprint as I forgot to state that the ground venison has no added fat. This is a very good recipe! ~Enjoy~

Forgive my ignorance (as all the deer burger we've used has had some added fat) but wouldn't you have to add some sort of fat to the skillet when cooking it to keep it from burning/sticking?

Yes, you may add some oil to the skillet or spray with "Pam" to avoid burning. I just gently fry the burger and add the salsa, water, seasoning, and chopped onion to the venison. Then let it simmer.

How long do you let it simmer before saying it's done?

How long do you let it simmer before saying it's done? About 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. It's basically done when the Venison Burger is cooked done.
