For the past few years I have been the stew maker and it is all eat including a few bowls that we share with neighbors. Nothing unusual about it except I use beef broth and V8 Juice as the fluid. I add a table spoonfull of jelly also. You can use the hot or regular V8 juice. I switch back and forth.

Although I didn't use the spoonful of jelly, Ozarks V8 idea is wonderful! I'm on my second big bowl of Deer stew made with V8. Not the hot.
