OK! Finally! It's August 1st and we can now say, Dove season is just "next month" !
The .12ga Navy Arms double and all gear is ready to go. Last year I just went to a field by myself a couple of late afternoons on a farm that I deer hunt, to try out BP for doves and got a grand total of one then two coming into a pond near a treeline late in the day.
But now that I have my self organized for BP doves, my challenge this month is to find a better place to hunt on Labor Day weekend that will have a lot more doves coming in than I had over an empty weed field last year.
My favorite time of year is now showing on the radar screen !

Besides a better place to hunt, have you tried decoys? They really do work!!!!! I set out about 12 decoys and the doves do come in among them.

Yes, I've used them a number of times on dove shoots in years past...have six mounted on a broom handle that I set on top of a telescopic pole and tie it to a fence post, etc...will probably use them this year

Try the Mojo dove with the whirling wings. You have to see it in action to believe how well it works.
