Man are the rabbits thick this year. We've been trying to fill some whitetail doe tags on one of the ranches we hunt, and can't walk 50 feet without 4-5 rabbits running. I'll have to take the kids down with the 22's and kill 20-30 a few times the winter. We usally eat about 70-80 a year. No limit or season here in Montana, plus no one hunts them here, so we get access just about any where.

Cool. Sounds like here in New Zealand. They are classed a pest here so you can shoot till you are blue in the face. My best ever in daylight was 161 rabbits confirmed in 4 hours on foot. 50 from one place with the .223, the ramaining on foot with my custom .22LR baby rolling block. Great days indeed. Hoping to get out this weekend.

That brings back memories running through the woods with a fox 16 double my grandfather gave me when I was 6. Still got it too, but I do most of my small game hunting with ruger mk2 now. I shoot a lot of squirrels while I am deer hunting, and even the occasional turkey. We have some serious season overlaps here. Craig.

I jealous!!!!In my neck of Ohio, rabbits are almost a rare and endangered species! If you jump one you almost feel guilty shooting it or than again, you feel you should because it has to be lonely.

Could you tell me where in Montana you went. I'm planning a hunting trip this November and I would like to fly my hawks at rabbits there. Thanks.
