Some time back I bought a GAMO Shadow 1000. I had a good quality pellet gun scope and after some experimenting found some ring mounts that didn't slip. It is very accurate and an A1 small game rifle. The 1000 feet per second gives it plenty of penetration with hunting type pellets and takes grey squirrel, crows and simular size animals as nicely as the .22 rimfire. Recently squirrel have become pests where I life and this little rifle does the trick cheaply. But after doing some penetration tests I found that it certainly is not a toy and could easily cause death in an accident. It must be treated as any other hunting rifle to be safe. I also have a .17 Cal. HMR that increases my range up to 175 yards. Love these little calibers. Great fun and handy to eliminate pests.

A few years ago a guy at an RV park shot and killed my Golden Retriever with a spring piston air rifle. People think these "BB" guns are toys. They are most certainly not. Lewis and Clark used an air rifle to impress the Indians on their journeys over a century and a half ago.
I have one and would love to put a scope on it if I could find a mount for it. My eyes just wont focus on those iron sights like they once could.

These spring loaded pelet rifles are tough on scopes and scope mounts. Not real sure why but they can shake a good scope to pieces unless the scope is specially designed for one. I am satisfied that mine would take a deer if shot into the brain. I am satisfied it would penetrate the frontal area of a deers scull.
